I needed to make 3 loaves today for B to take to work for their Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, so I thought I'd quickly share the recipe with you!
Here's what we need:
3 cups of self-rising flour
5 tablespoons sugar
1 can of beer - room temperature.
4 tablespoons butter
Stir the sugar and flour together.
Pour in the can of beer. Do not take a sip of the beer. We are not in Germany, people. We do not like our beer room temperature. Wait. We do not like beer. Ugh, Ooey, Blech. But, I wonder if I can find a recipe for Strawberry Dacquiri bread?
Once everything is mixed together, you have a lovely slimy gooey dough.
Spoon into a lightly greased loaf pan.
Melt the butter and pour all over the top of the dough.
Bake in a 375 oven for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
Let sit in the pan for a few minute, then remove from pan to continue cooling. The melted butter cooking into the bread created these fabulous, crunchy, buttery top. And really -no one will be able to tell the difference between a spot where a little of the cruncy top fell off and a spot, where say, you feel the need to pinch off a little taste!
ENJOY!
