This week, as we officially begin another year of pre-school lessons is All About Me week as we learn about ourselves and each other!
Yesterday we talked about how we are each special and each look different - our hair, our eyes, our skin, our bodies, etc. We focused on the fact that our fingerprints are each unique and no one has fingerprints or handprints the same as us! To help demonstrate this everyone made a picture using just our fingerprints and paint!
Today we talked about our homes and how each of our homes is special. We colored pictures of "our" houses and adding our favorite ribbon curtains.
We also talked about our special faces and how we use our faces to show what we're feeling! Then we practiced making emotion faces! Happy, Sad, Mad, Bored, Scared, Tired...
K showing us sad...
J showing us shy...
B showing us tired...
O showing us Happy!
We had a great time celebrating a special day yesterday as we had treats for O's birthday!
This year we are adding into our lessons a structured active-play time based on the SPARKS curriculum I've had fun getting 12 hours of training in this summer! We're starting out with some fun, active songs like The Freeze....
Wild, crazy Dancing....
Until it says FREEZE, then stop in your tracks!
Musical instruments were a big hit yesterday as we brought those out for some great fun!
Circle Time Songs are the highlight of everyday too as everyone gets to take turns picking our favorite songs to sing and do the actions to!
Five little monkey, swing in a tree - Teasing Mr. Alligator "Can't catch me, Can't catch me."
Along comes Mr. Alligator, quiet as can be...
And SNAPS that monkey right out of that tree!
I'm having a blast with our lessons so far this year! It's so much fun to see these little ones have fun and get excited about what we're doing and it's just going to get better and better!
