Pet Week

We've been talking about pets all week! The kiddos all brought pictures of their pets from home to show their friends and tell us all about them.

On Monday we talked about dogs - we colored a picture of a dog - and they turned out all different colors just like real dogs! We also made a door with a puppy behind a square doggie door - helping us review the square shape. At circle time we thought of all the doggie songs we could sing like BINGO, How Much Is That Doggie In the Window? and Do Your Ears Hang Low? Lots of fun.

On Tuesday we talked about pet birds. We painted with bird feathers and played a feather game. It was absolutely hilarious watching the kids try to drop the feathers into a bowl - harder than you'd think!

On Wednesday we talked about pet fish! We sponge painted a fish shape with blue paint and glued on blue sequins for the scales - helping us review the blue shape. Then we colored a picture of 3 fish - helping us review the number 3!

Yesterday was pet rabbit day. We played with play-doh and made rabbit shapes. We played with rabbit tails (cotton balls) and hopped like bunnies.

Today we will look at pet cats! We're going to paint with cat whiskers (broom straws) and we're going to make cat toys from yarn.

We've also been working on the letter X this week.

The high school's homecoming parade is today at 2. Yep, smack dab in the middle of our much-needed nap time. So, I'm thinkin'.... Early naps today so we can get up and watch the parade! It will be another beautiful day so lots of outside time when the parade is done!

We're still checking out pets next week! Check back then to see what all we did and learned!
